Gandi SARL was one of the first ICANN accredited registrars. They have a very registrant-friendly legal agreement, and the price isn't bad. Best of all, they only sell domain names - and you are not constantly bombarded with advertising .

The cost per domain name is 12 euros (about $15). Includes domain registration, DNS hosting, web and e-mail forwarding. Also, they hide your real e-mail in WHOIS (you are given a @contact.gandi.net forwarder), so you don't receive spam from WHOIS harvesters.

Support is very fast - when I transferred one of my domains, Gandi read the registrant name incorrectly, and for security reasons they don't allow you to change it online (you can change everything except the domain owner's name). They responded to my e-mail in 10 minutes, and fixed the error in their database .

Pros: Best legal agreement of all registrars (e.g., they won't modify your domain without your permission or a WIPO ruling). Good price, good support. Only sells domain name registrations, so you don't receive spam for other products and services. Hides your e-mail address in WHOIS without any extra fees (e.g. GoDaddy's "Private Registrations"). Includes DNS Hosting, as well as web and e-mail forwarding.
Cons: Not native English speakers, some parts of their website are hard to understand. Confusing administrative interface for beginners.
Summary: Favorite registrar (I have used Gandi, Tucows, GoDaddy, eNom and Melbourne IT).

A very well-written and unbiased review, ajaspers. We could sure use some more just like it.
