    Hi Everyone,

    Just a little review.

It was hard for me to choose a host when I first started doing websites. Went to so many different review sites, which all had different opinions. In the end, I visited Fatcow.com and loved what I saw: they were based in the US, they had a ridiculous sale rate of $3.15/month, and I enjoyed the cow and milk humor on their site.

My HTML/CSS-based site was running great and their control panel is wonderful. Furthermore, their support staff is ridiculously fast, with response times of about 3 hours. I thought I had found a hidden gem. When I started testing an online store demo on the Fatcow server though, I realized Fatcow's weakness: mass-shared databases.

I'm currently in the middle of working on both an online store and a Wordpress-based site, both of which utilize databases and they become stupidly slow sometimes, with parse times of 30 seconds not being uncommon. When you're editing stylesheets and want to see how one additional css notation will change the outlook, these long delays increase the time needed to make changes greatly. It's ridiculous at times.

Unfortunately, I did sign up for 2 years with them... so, I've got about 20 more months to go . So, what should you go with if you do want a fast Wordpress or online store? You can check out this link. It seems Bluehost is the most recommended. And it seems right now, they're in the same price range as Fatcow, at $3.95/month.Their website looks lame though.

You can cancel your contract due to service level disputes, and if you prepaid you can get a portion of your money back, either through the host (if they play nicely) or through your credit card company (if they have a dispute mechanism...most do.)
