Guaranteed to undercut your current web hosting!

Greetings! I just wanted to stop by and see what you guys are currently paying for web hosting? Because I would like to say that I will undercut whatever you are currently paying, and still get the quality service you deserve at a lower price. So if you're paying $10/month, we will offer our hosting for like $5/month. You will get full cPanel access, and there will be no contract so you can cancel whenever you would like. Now I know that I'm brand new to this forum and people may think this is fake or something. But I'm just looking for a chance. We are just starting out and don't have a website so you would have to contact me directly by my personal email. Which that email can also be used to contact me in the future for feedback, or assistance. So, Admins please don't remove because I want to help others pay less, and not have to be suckered into a 3-year contract with hosting companies. If there are any errors on our part while you are with us. You will get your money back for that month, and have the hosting for the rest of that month.

If you're interested, please contact me at: vitalitymn@gmail.com

    Sincerely,

    Tim Johnson

I normally would remove something like this, but in this case I'm going to leave it alone.

First of all, the offer is incredibly vague. You'll undercut any package? Does that mean you'll offer exactly the same features for a plan at less than what "the competition" offers?

Second, if you're just starting out and don't have a website, how can we find anything about your host?

Honestly, I think with your approach you're going to have a tough time with it. You not only have a serious trust issue right off the top, but there have been hundreds of people who have made similar "offers" and flown by night. What makes you any different?
If I've helped you out in any way, please pay it forward. My wife and I are walking for Autism Speaks. Please donate, and thanks.

It's basically reseller hosting. But our main focus is helping people pay less for hosting because we know how expensive it can be. Making money in the end isn't out main priority like others.

You don't have a website and you're a reseller, and you want to undercut other hosting services?
Lot's of resellers and host on all the forums that offer valuable information and experiences to the forum members.

We have two resellers and we would be dead in the water without a website. If we were reselling to the public I would take your undercut statement more offending than I already do now. I respect resellers and would never do anything to take business away from them in an already just about burned out industry with so many hosting companies available now.

Not a good and professional statement you made there.

bleau canon is 100% correct on this. Any host of any sort, even a "startup" host, should have a website. The website should contain full contact info and it should also have a knowledgebase, pricing, and all that good stuff.

Guaranteed "undercutting" of any other hosting package is a horrible business practice for two reasons:

    1) It usually is offered by people who have no concept of how difficult hosting support actually is, and;
    2) It implies that price = value. Price and value are two very different things, especially with hosting companies. Cheap hosts are usually cheap because they suck, and the hosts you're trying to "undercut" because "making money in the end isn't your main priority" are the ones that offer top-tier support and thus can charge more.

Tim: there are hundreds, probably thousands, of people who have made similar offers over the years. One particular example that stands out to mine happened in 2003 with a guy who lived about 90 minutes away from me at the time (we'll call him Chad). Chad had set up a server and made a wonderful promise to people that he was going to give the world this great hosting and it was month-to-month and there were no commitments and he would even register a domain on their behalf for just $1/month (plus the $45 "administration and setup" fee). I was one of the first people Chad contacted, as he knew I was a designer/developer and he wanted everyone to be referred to him. Since I smelled a rat and since I was quite happy dealing with my host (Sectorlink), I wasn't about to go switching companies. I heard about him making the same unsolicited offers to others, so I posted a warning on a prominent hosting board at the time (since taken down the last I checked).

Chad proceeded to defend himself vigorously, called me an idiot, said he refused to host any site I had built because he thought I was selling get-rich-quick stuff (which is pretty damn hard to do with say fireplace sites), and he ranted and he raved...for about two weeks before he closed up shop. He had from what I can gather 40-50 signups, so he made a quick couple of grand, had several free domains, and decided to point them to a porn site. To make matters worse, it was a porn site devoted to a fetish that involved ... humans, and living non-human organisms, and yes that is the nicest way I could describe this site.

Just before Chad closed up shop, he decided to leave me a voice mail where he told me what an idiot I was and what a horrible designer I was...to start. Over the course of a minute, his tone changed from arrogant and angry to turned on and at least pretending to let his little Chad out to play. If I ever find the voice mail again, I'll upload it somewhere...it's one of the most disturbing VMs I have ever heard.

Now, I'm not sure what you're offering, and chances are you're not going to do what Chad did...at least not to the same extent (involving porn and suchlike). But there's nothing stopping you from taking a bunch of hosting signup money and running a get-rich-quick scam or some other scheme such as one of these guys:
