Exclamation Accessing Webmaster Through Domain Name Provider Verification

Ok, so I am a complete layman in terms of web design / analytics. I have been facing huge problems with my site's SEO Vendor & want to try and access Google Webmaster to see the reports for myself, because I just cant trust my SEO guy anymore (PS:My website has completely vanished from google rankings). Now my site is registered on Net4 but the Name Server is on to which I don't have access, since my vendor set this up recently. I only have the login details to Net4.

Now can anyone please guide me step by step on how I can use webmaster in the simplest way? Considering that I dont have access to the website template or coding or anything at all.

Also How do I know who is good at SEO? Seems like I have fooled big time.

    Please Help.

First of all, no one who isolates SEO into a vacuum is good at it. That's a crock. SEO is interrelated to good design and development principles and has been for several years.

Second, if you want access to Google Webmaster Tools, go to , register a Google account if you haven't already, and follow the steps provided. You'll need FTP access to your server. If it's your site, you're entitled to it. If you don't have this access or your "SEO Vendor" does, get it from him since at that point, he's stealing your intellectual property.

"Vanishing from the rankings" doesn't necessarily mean anything, though. Ranking doesn't matter. Referral traffic does.

Without access to the website files you are pretty much his hostage.
Have you ever asked him for access?

It does seems like the best you can do is get your hands on the files and run to another provider. If he denies to grant you access, then, i would strongly consider learn from this experience and then have a new website done with a provider that does grant you access to the website files and backup copies.

I am guessing he promised you this world and a bit of the next one. When i tell my clients i cant assure them a 1st place in google they go beserk on me, now i know who i loose my clients to.

Let us know how this end up.
By the way, it would be cool to know who you are working with, just to satisfy my curiosity :P
