    Restoring a website

I'm moving hosts at the end of the month. I've backed up my entire website, home directory and databases. Id like to know if there are step by step instructions on how to restore the website. I see on the CPanel, back ups, there is an option to restore Home Directory's and SQL Databases. Once that has been completed, what is the next step?

Do I need to change anything in the config.php or index.php or any coding to get my website live?

    Thank you

It comes down to four general steps. The exact steps will depend on your site and your two hosts. You've already gone partway through step 1, too.

    1) Back up your site (as you've done) and restore it on the new host.

    2) Check the site on the new host (they'll usually give you a temporary URL or an IP address) to make sure everything works

    3) Point your domain to the new server that it's on...your host will give you new nameservers for this purpose.

    4) Wait at least 48 hours for propagation to the new server and then cancel your old hosting plan. Don't do this before or you may experience downtime. Just to test this, I usually add an extra page to the new server and make sure that I can see it.
