I' trying to copy the link of a fanpage so as to link to it from a site. The address at the splash page for the FB fan page is: https://www.facebook.com/crossroadsanimalclinictx . However, when copied and pasted into a link tage and clicked on it just brings up the main facebook splash page. Is there a way of finding out the actual, numerical, non-vanity url?

The fact that you are getting the Facebook splash page (which is actually the login page) is not due to your having the wrong URL.
Facebook requires people to be logged in before they can view a page.
If you open a tab in your browser and login to Facebook, and then open a second tab and click on your link, you will go straight to the page. Otherwise, you will be sent to the login page, and as soon as you login, you will be sent to the Crossroads page.

I clicked on that link, and it sent me to the home page... Either the page doesn't exist, or it's private.

AlphaMare: Me being not logged in is not the problem. I've created similar hyperlinks in the past connecting to facebook fan pages. They take me to the splash page for of he fan page. If I click on anything on that page to "like" it or something, then I am required to login.
    e.g. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Receats/145723928830142

The difference is the one that's giving me a problem is a vanity url. In the same situation, when the traditional numeric urls are used there is no issue.

I submitted this problem to a friend of mine who works for a company that does a lot of custom fan pages and he had never encountered it before and was at a loss as well.

However, I have been reading up on the issue and I believe it may be a problem with the way the client setup the fan page and/or its vanity url. I'll post again once i hear back from the client.

Still accepting suggestions in the meantime though.

I've gotten this sorted since posting. It has to do with a FB bug; if the privacy settings is set to 18+ then it won' link to the fan page and'll just take you to the main login page. You have set the option to 13+ and then it works.

Thanks for this tip. I have been using Facebook but I just learned this information now. I clicked on the links in the previous comments and it works perfectly. Lots of changes has been done in Facebook too.
