I have just started designing my portfolio website, so far I have only animated the "Home" button.

It obviously needs alot of work. What do you think of the design so far?

You have to wait for it to load.

It's not a bad start. Maybe some controls for the music (on, off, volume) would be nice.

Other then that it's hard to tell with no content in there to see how you will go about setting that out.
I'm not too sure on the black splash?

I don't see why the file size is so big, it should be < 100k with proper compression. But right now it's around 400 and that's... way too big for a home page.

It's a large file at the moment, it was just a quick design to see how I feel about it, I haven't optimised it or anything.

Took my DSL approx. 2 seconds to load, so it's fine for me.
Like the blobs... Nothing special just yet though.

"Other then that" --> Other than that.

So a loader, content and music on/off.
Can you make the flash file stretch on the height to show more text if needed?
(I guess you can't, although it would be nice).
Then what you could do is to create the file higher than you have now, and then increase height though moving the border of yours if needed.

I agree about having a preloader, when I first came to the page I was presented with a blank screen; convinced it wasn't going to do anything I went else where until I later heard the sound playing in the background. (I doubt everyone will be able to jump back to a past tab though.)

The design looks nice at this point, how about slapping in some Lorem Ipsum so we can see which direction things are going? I'm not so sure that the ink splats and the music fit together, everything else seems to suggest ambient, calm, tranquillity etc but these appear more blunt and in your face.

Perhaps you could sample some of the bird singing for your audio rollovers instead of the slighly more overused future/techy bleeps.

    Code:
    ...<table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" height="100%">
    			<tr>...
Uh, oh, tables; do I sense we're going for a retro feel now?
