Well this is my first post here so lets make it count. Chaos Web been in development for a few weeks now mostly working on the backend of things.

It now is fully XHTML 1.1/CSS/WAI and Section 508 vaild - if you notice any problems please do contact me.

Focussing on the backend has lead me to neglect the front end of the site and has left it drap and colourless. I am no designer but would like to know how i could make my site more visually pleasing to the eye.

    The site is located here:
    Chaos Web

Thanks in advance for any constructive advice

Graphics and color. Make, or try to talk someone else into making you, a better header with some beautiful images. Don't use gray for the links, use a nice blue or something. Don't use gray for the background, use an off-white whatever color (not gray!). Don't use that font, use a sans-serif. I know they're kinda boring, and that's not what you want, but they look better than what you have. Take off those ugly validation images and use attractive text links. Or make your own images that state the same purpose but look much better.

These are just a few things you can do to make it more visually pleasing.

color. you need it. Don't just pick random ones. Check this place out for some tried and true combos

You could also try to center the page.

    Use a font like "Verdana".

There is almost no alignment. I would left align everything in the left column.

Definately make a new header w/ photoshop.

    There is no contrast...

(I think that most people design first and code later. I dunno, that's what I do)

I like your logo, and I like the rounded off shapes, but there just dosn't seem to be a strong enough layout, everything is a bit spaced out.

But I think with a little work your'll have a realy good site.
