    I've just updated my portfolio:

    http://notionwebdesign.com/

    and I added a blog:

    http://notionwebdesign.com/blog/

    If you could take a look at both and review them for me I would appreciate it. There may be some inconsistencies in the blog (for one thing, the times are in GMT), so please point them out if you see them. It's my fist real project with PHP, but I think I got most of the bugs out. Don't forget to try out the different styles (it's my first time doing that too). I don't think I could look at them objectively anymore because I'm so terribly sick of seeing them. You know what that means; more styles! Lol.

    Thanks.

    as for the design i dont have anything bad to say about it, but i think your intro content is a little wishy washy
    what i mean is the design of your site is very pretty so you should make the content more professional but i think you know that

    how many styles does your journal have?
    i could only see two, but it seems like there should be 3

    the style switcher is great to show off your talent of which you seem to have plenty
    but i hate the second styles coloring...but thats a matter of taste

    spelling mistake:here

    I like it

    Although, I don't particularly like the second stylesheet (the non-default one), but I can just not change it. Also, the stylesheets are ver 2 and ver 3, where's ver 1?

    And wait... what's this!?!? Tables on the archives page! *screams hellishly*

    Hehe just kidding.

    From one of your posts I'm guessing you have your own login page to your admin section, which I envy you for - nice job.

    Can't find anything else wrong with it to be honest!

    Overall - nice site, but I look forward to more styles

    I knew someone would say that. I'll change that once I make up something better to say.

    Version 1 was sent to guillotine a month or two ago. Hence, you only see version 2 and the default version 3.

    Lol. Tables for tabular data, my friend. It's an extraneous amount of work to do the same thing with divs.

    I guess the crowd has spoken in that I may have to nix that one in the future. I'm quite fond of earth colors though.

    Whatever suits you I suppose

    Two more things concerning the navigation:

    I got confused when I first went on it because the items on it are different in your two links, and also, I think you should have the current page highlighted, or bolded, or whatever.

    By the way: the second style has grown on me now, I vote you keep it.

    Maybe I'll take off the main site link so it isn't confusing and maybe make a text link to it somewhere out of the way. I would just like to keep the two connected so if anyone gets to my blog they can also get to the main site (in the event that they are so dull as to not see that the blog is just a directory within it).

    I'd like to highlight the the current page, but I have the links in an include to keep things tidy. If anyone knows some Javascript that would help me out with that, please let me know.

    Glad you like it now! I'll keep it for a while at least.

    Thanks for that deadhippo... but I wasn't asking for comments on my previous and outdated site thanks

    Notice the note on the splash page about a new site coming soon

    Thanks anyway, I've renamed the index.html splash to index.php

    No need for javascript, my friend.

    Do you have a variable on each page storing the current section? if not you might want to define one at the start, either by a simple:

    PHP Code:
    $section 'blog' // (or whatever)
    Or automatically from the URL

    PHP Code:
    $section explode("/",$_SERVER['REQUEST_URI']);
    $section $section[1]; // I think this is right...
    E.g, if it's google.com/images - the array would be:

    [0] => ""
    [1] => "images"

    The first one is 0 because $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'] is just "/images" and the "" is the thing before the slash, if you get me :S

    If it were google.com/images/ (with the last /) Then it would be:

    [0] => ""
    [1] => "images"
    [2] => ""

    But it doesn't make a difference in this case.

    Then in your include file you'd loop round for each section of your site (details of which stored in an array) and first check whether it equals the current section, if yes, print <li class="current">Item</li> or whatever, if no, print a normal <li>Item</li> etc.

    If you need the full code I'd be happy to type it up, but I'm a little tired at the moment lol...

    I never would have thought of that. I'll try it out, thanks.
