Hi there. I'm in the process of designing a football blog which is slated to launch sometime soon.

I do agree that the site layout is generally "narrow". However I think it makes it look a tad more unique than the conventional broad-based types. If it remains a dominant problem, than I'll go for something wider. This would naturally mean that all the graphics would have to be re-designed to fit the new length of the site, which is a tedious task in my humble opinion. :dead:

actually, narrow single column layouts are all the rage. A lot of people do it because they think it's unique :]

the design is good, though just a little cramped

I have to agree with you there!

portal-style websites are overdone and restrict space for content

    Cheers.

I've made a few changes and have reduced the number of sections on the main page. I hope it looks a tad less cluttered now.

I've completed the coding for the whole site, so that every section has active links. The navigation has also been made simpler for our readers.

Looks good! I agree with the others, the thinner layout does look great and is starting to come into style at a quick pace. Even though it does take a little while to load even on a high-speed connection, the images that do appear look great! (You screwed up extracting the MSN images though, look at the bottom of them) Good job and good luck with your site.

I don't know if this comment was meant to be ironic, but it stood out to me.

Any ways, I may be the only one who does not like the narrow layout, I feel like it's too cluttered. But, if it's a personal site and you don't want to redo your images, that's your prerogative.

    But some other things...

Either the links are not working, or the site is not compatible with Safari. Wait... Comment link works.

Personally, I do not see the motivation for light text on dark background. Although it is acceptible and legible, where larger bodies of text are concerned, it's not preferable. And your justification changes with your paragraphs, be careful.

Some of the graphics are not very well isolated.

I am not quite understanding the "No Exit" comparison. Or maybe I should just take the quote out of context?
