First off on your homepage there’s just the navigation and it doesn't even tell me who or what you are.

Your homepage design is different to the rest of the site.

This site loads slow even for me and I'm on a high-speed broadband connection.

The design of the rest of the site looks to be great it's just the things that I have listed above that in my eyes are letting the site down.

    Site looks pretty good.
Here are some things I noticed right away. Your banner and logo. Your logo text is dropshadowed and your banner text is highlighted. Yet your logo is just sitting there with neither of those. I do like the logo and logo text, but I think you need to do the same effect with the logo itself. I would definately give the lines a little more bold look so it doesn't get lost or look "weak" next to your logo text.
Also, it does look a bit confusing going from one page to the other with the different layout (I am assuming that is because the amount of info).
Also, one thing that really stands out is on your "From Our Nursery Page". When you use the pull down menu, that color with the white text is almost impossible to read. I would consider changing the background color on that menu to another shade of green (that is the other issue, it doesn't go with the rest of the color scheme).
Please understand these are VERY minor things.......but as you know, enough minor issues = a big issue when it comes to overall design.
Take for example your copyright. 2005-2008? Is it possible to copyright something 3 years from now?
And as Peter said, it does load kinda slow, so you may want to fix that.
It won't take much to tweak this site..........good luck with it.

Thank you for the kind responses.

    @peter,
First off on your homepage there’s just the navigation and it doesn't even tell me who or what you are.
i have mentioned "it's all about our green friends" but if should say more, what should i say? the site's aim? thats in the about us page. i think if you explain this point a bit more, i may be able to adapt the main page.

Your homepage design is different to the rest of the site.
i wanted an swf intro to the site, but ibiblio is too slow for such things, so i had to settle for this. i wanted as close to a static design but something flashy. will this become a problem later on??

This site loads slow even for me and I'm on a high-speed broadband connection.
this site is on UNC's server chain, ibiblio.org.
    www.neoherbal.com
    www.ibiblio.org/neoherbal/
the domain is set to redirect the UI to the ibiblio servers. can you see any loading time difference between the two URI?? do tell?? cause i dont see any...

The design of the rest of the site looks to be great it's just the things that I have listed above that in my eyes are letting the site down.
thats too bad. do tell me any other thing, so i can correct it

thank you for the honest response!

i am not too good with graphics. i would be grateful if you show me a live example.

Also, it does look a bit confusing going from one page to the other with the different layout (I am assuming that is because the amount of info).
different layout?? you mean the table setups? an example would be beneficial here.

Also, one thing that really stands out is on your "From Our Nursery Page". When you use the pull down menu, that color with the white text is almost impossible to read. i'll get on it right away. i think that was a default color of dreamweaver or the css file got corrupt. i'll see that it is corrected within the next few days.

Take for example your copyright. 2005-2008? Is it possible to copyright something 3 years from now?
    is it possible?? i dont know. should i write "(C) <current year>"??
is there any code PHP or HTML, no java, that i can put there so i dont have to change it on all the pages every year

And as Peter said, it does load kinda slow, so you may want to fix that.
the server is slow (confirmed), and i dont know if the redirection rule on the domain, and the name servers are adding to the slowness, how do i check them for problems?? and what can i do to the site assets to speed it up.

Please understand these are VERY minor things.......but as you know, enough minor issues = a big issue when it comes to overall design.
It won't take much to tweak this site..........good luck with it.
yeah, little drops of water make a big ocean. i appreciate the help you guys have given me. and i thank you. i will make the changes as soon as possible and revert back.

    Thanks again,
    Arkantos.

I'm not being picky but I know if I clicked onto a site that had a banner and a nav on the right under it and a big ugly block of white space on the left I wouldn't bother going to the about us page because I would assume the rest of the site is just as bad as the front page.

The front page is THE most important page of the entire website as it gives an impression to the visitor and determines whether they want to view the rest of the site.

Look at your statistics they will back me up.

Good you have a about us page but what is the use if people just click the back button on their browser?
