I'm trying to think of a good color scheme for a website that I plan on using for a music label and web design / graphics / photography portfolio.

Of these sites I've put together (or almost have), which one has the best overall color scheme to your opinion?

    A. http://www.bonzxylophone.com/
    B. http://isometricmultimedia.com/iso3/index.asp
    C. http://babdag.dyndns.org/Sites/bobsite5/main.asp
    D. http://babdag.dyndns.org/Sites/nncp/index.aspx

Your opinions and suggestions would be extremely helpful! thanks!

I like this one most: http://babdag.dyndns.org/Sites/nncp/index.aspx but I would add some fresher colours to liven it up a bit. Maybe a hint of yellow as a border?

    Hey WhaleBob2000!

Out of 4 choices you’ve given, I liked the 3rd one http://babdag.dyndns.org/Sites/bobsite5/main.asp.. I would suggest if you could change the background color of it., it seems comparable with the color inside the box.. :ichatwink:

I'm with eKstreme, 'D' would be my favourite.

'C' is very 1930s Art Deco... half expect some woman to appear and start dancing the Charleston. If you have a need for a retro site of that sort then I think the design could come in very useful, but as your main site I'd say it's a little too "specialist".

'B' is very very thin... and it also reminds me of "My Little Pony" or "The Care Bears". I guess it depends what sort of music you're trying to promote but, again, it's very creative but I'd save it for the next big thing to hit infant girls' TV.

'A' is very very very very thin... are you, perchance, aiming that one at WAP or similar? If you're going to present like that then I think you need to throw some coding in to alter the presentation depending on the content... I am on 1024x768 and it looks small... were I on a higher resolution I'd probably hardly be able to see it at all.

And, finally, 'D'... Soviet Plane is an interesting concept... you into flying ex-military planes, or is it just coincidental? Regardless, the width is to my liking, the navigation is clear and well laid out... personally I wouldn't use green and red but that's personal preferance.. remember, also, that your scrollbar which you've nicely redefined in the said red/green will only change in IE... code-wise don't forget your alt tags on images (accessibility) and you need to size your images so that the page doesn't jump around on loading...

But, all in all, I do rather like 'D'. Yes.

As far as colors go, for your topic, I'd go with either C or D. I think C is the most dynamic, with the pink & yellow highlights, but I also tend to find blue to be very traditional and classic in a can't-go-wrong (sometimes boring) sort of way. D has a lot of potential, but it's incomplete, there isn't a good highlight.

The first one leaves so much to be desired, I don't know where to begin. The second one (agreeing with Sean) reminds me a daycare center.

I like C and D...although I agree with the earlier reply that C is pretty retro...

I am not a big fan of B...a bit too...hmmm,Pink...

I have some kind of urge to do stuff that seems different most stuff out there. I think I could agree with you DCScene on how the green and the blue are probably the best color scheme. Turning towards nature, those are probably the colors we see the most every day so people are probably quite used to them. Pink and pastels are difficult to share with a broader spectrum of an audience.

I think I've finally decided upon the daycare theme. I believe my website is going to get a pretty strong flow of traffic with the content I plan on providing. They viewers will probably begin to slowly accept the weaker and soft colors possibly expanding their comfort range. Spoonfeeding people tacky-ness probably isn't a good idea though.

I've kind of given up. I think it would make for good shock factor using the daycare theme. I shoot photography at some metal shows sometimes. A situation could be like, some person into a certain genre of music goes to work and wants to show a friend some pictures from a show. When their friend sees the website layout and colors they'll be like, "waht the heck is this, pink stuff?!?" haha. My website's name and style will probably brand in their mind better than if it was a plain page in black/red/white as any other 'death metal' color scheme goes.

I really have no clue what I'm talking about, but it's some kind of marketting hogwash most likely.

But I throughly appreciate all the comments and suggestions I've recieved so far. For other projects I'll keep these suggestions and details in mind, hopefully bringing something new together to share on here. Thanks a lot! :0)
