We ask a web design company to redesign our website www.datanumen.com. And after we pay them the advance payment, the company provides several samples for the first page, as follows:

And the revisions of the above samples:

Could you please give us some suggestions, reviews or comments on these samples and revisions? Thank all of you in advance.

All very nice! After looking at them all I have to say I like the sample7 best ... not the revised one. I like the original one better simply because the menu is not in one big line.

I find it very appealing and different where it in that right corner. And the content boxes are just not boxes like all the other ones ... so it's nice change. And it's also not as "dark". The original sample is much lighter in the banner and therefore just lightens(sp?) up the whole page.

The only thing is now you're missing a small section for the "What's New!" hmmm ...

In the end it comes down to what you guys like. I don't think you'd be making a bad choice with either of the 4 samples. Good luck in choosing :alien:

    I'm partial to 5.1 and 7.1.
The thing you need to consider though, is what you like. You obviously have a good designer.......let him/her know what you like and what their recommendations are and go from there.

    Good luck.....

I'm voting for original sample05. I like the use of soft colors and simple design elements. The layout of the site seems to be much more logical to me and would be very easy to navigate. Samples 7 and 7.1 seem to be jumbled and unorganized, with 7.1 being a little more intuitive.

One more major suggestion... Update your logo. Those designs looks so nice and modern that it makes your logo seem ameteur and tired. Try some different fonts. If you're going this far, might as well go all the way.

I agree with all of the comments above, although i think your designer might be taking you for a bit of a chance though. I'm sure i've seen some of those designs before, can't remember exactly where though... just make sure that they aren't rip off's.... you can never be too cautious. It may just be me, cause you get a lot of templates and designes that look the same.

With regards to which template i think looks the best, i have to go with template 7, but the original one. it's the easiest one with regards to navigation, and the most aesthetically pleasing one as well.

I also agree on the comment about the logo, you need to bring the design of your logo inline with the desgin of you your site. make sure they compliment eachother and try and maintain some brand consitency.
Tip #44: never pee into the wind...
