Im making this site as a way to show my blog and resume, and some current projects im working on. I normaly dont do websites, so im pretty new to web design. Please post if you like it or not and what resolution you viewed it in. Thanks

btw, the header image isnt finished yet. the big blank area on the left side is going to contain a title of some sort. I was thinking of puting something like Code Garage.

The black text is a little hard to see, so you might want to have a look at that. Also, you should probably add some feedback to the menu on the left, such as rollovers (see CSS rollovers for a good way to do those). It's looking pretty slick, though.

    Also, C++ == cool :-)

Looks awesome, I agree about the black text, it is a bit hard to read on that background.

alright you can probably do a ton with this site, it has alot of potential. The icons for the links are amazing but their placement isnt right and they should also be rollovers. I would put them inside of the banner and align them to the left. Then put something else in the empty space like recent blog messages or a contact form or somthing. As far as the coding, its really good that you didnt use tables and used css. You did have a few validation "warnings" though:
    line 2 column 1 - Warning: missing <!DOCTYPE> declaration
line 27 column 22 - Warning: <img> missing '>' for end of tag
    line 30 column 28 - Warning: <img> attribute ";" lacks value
line 3 column 2 - Warning: inserting missing 'title' element
line 27 column 22 - Warning: <img> lacks "alt" attribute
line 30 column 28 - Warning: <img> lacks "alt" attribute
line 31 column 29 - Warning: <img> anchor "blog" already defined
line 31 column 29 - Warning: <img> lacks "alt" attribute
    line 32 column 6 - Warning: <div> anchor "button_left" already defined
line 32 column 28 - Warning: <img> lacks "alt" attribute
    line 33 column 6 - Warning: <div> anchor "button_right" already defined
line 33 column 29 - Warning: <img> lacks "alt" attribute
    line 34 column 6 - Warning: <div> anchor "button_left" already defined
line 34 column 28 - Warning: <img> lacks "alt" attribute

Get some rollovers to add a splash of colour and something in the top left space and you're sorted.
Currently using: Firefox 1.5, IE 7, Notepad, Ms Paint, GIMP

Yep, agree with most of the points already raised.

For the rollover icons make them turn to colour when you roll over them that would be awesome!

    Get the validation problems fixed.

    Add more colour in general.

It's very monotone - I'd agree with the others about adding some more colour. Also, I can't quite see the reasoning for the car personally... it doesn't look wrong as such, just.. unexplained.

With the complete absense of color I don't forsee many visitors staying at your site to view what you have to offer. You can add a great deal of emphasis to your site by choosing a simple color to go along with the black/gray look.

Perhaps try coloring the icons when they are in the mouse-over state. Just a suggestion...I'm a big proponent of using color.

The site has potentials...but color does alot for a website. So add some to it, especially your link.
