    Hi all,

I'm glad I found this place.

So I have set up a personal website based on wordpress. I also use some JS.

Basically I'm looking for a simplistic design but the feedbacks i receive are contradictory.

Some people just love it, some really hate few parts of it.
The banner for example may be a bit "special". What do you guys think of it?

The icons are not that great I have to redo them...now i'm a noob at icon software !!!

Well any feedbacks and critics (even very harsh critics as long as I get the point) are very welcomed.

thanks a lot, now let me see what YOU have

    Ohgodgetridoftheblinking....

Other than that, it looks pretty good :-) It's a little too black-and-white, though, and I don't think the little rainbow band solves that problem well. Maybe if you gave the site title in the header a different color? Also, why does the site title link back to the same page you're on? The little person in the upper left is also a little less-than-visible.

I don't see what's so "special" about the banner :ermm:

Let's just say the site isn't anything "new". The fact that you downloaded the WP theme from someone ... maybe made a few changes... bla ... big deal.

I don't see why you need icons to represent your menu and then have to describe them!?

It's also hard to know what this site will be exactly. Is it a blog? A showcase or your pictures perhaps!? What are going to talk about?! That's why you usually have a ~5 word description in your header.

On the other hand ... it's a personnal website so ... if you like it, who cares what we think!

Well yeh this is a personal website so basically it's a bit of everything, not focused on anything. Actually I wanted more a personal traditional website than a blog but still retain a notepad section.

The banner...well I dunno, some like some hate it so I was just wondering what specialist would say I might redo though.

thanks for your words though I appreciate

I'm referring to this link just because it's the first one from Google and I'm too lazy to look up any others :-P

Okay ... not sure what that reply meant but what I meant was that those icons are ... well ... what's the word I'm looking for ... oh yeah ... useless!!? IMO!

The menu is there ... in plain english. I don't need icons and then a desciption of the icons ... it's redundand useless info.

They could be better-integrated with the menu, but the point I was trying to make was that having navigation both iconically and textually is not a bad idea at all.

To be quite honest, dispite this guy being a fairly competant designer... the site itself I find a little boring to be honest. It looks all nice and modern but far to sterile.

Your BG graphic doesn't line up right either, I don't know if this was intentional but It looks odd and messes up my eyes.
No ma'am, we in IT don't have a sense of humor we're aware of.

    Hey minute44,

Ok well you made an interesting point, when refering to the "boring" part!!

I want something simple but interesting enough...that's why I made use of few scripts, i'm currently redoing it based on many feedbacks

    hey Karinne,
On the other hand ... it's a personnal website so ... if you like it, who cares what we think!
Hum... ok, i'll pass this one....

    Bonne chance, quand m
    me.

    >> Not bad, I'd say. I'd avoid words like `sort of', since they give a bit of an ambiguous impression. It's also too bad that your site doesn't validate, but clearly you have experience in areas other than web design... Impressive.

    >> I also like the AJAX/Javascript that you use in your /notes.

    >> But if you want to create a website like those of KenBacca or IfElse, you need more fluidity, as well as a uniform structure throughout your site. (For example, your `about' page isn't really similar to your other pages...)
