    Yes innovative hmm.
Well I've went with trying something a little different much to my better judgment and I want to see what you think.
From a usability point of view I don't think it really cuts the mustard and it looks a little cluttered. Any ideas on how to retain the same look (I would like to keep the iconography for a little while) but reduce the cluttered look would be much appreciated.
The reason I'm persevering with the iconography is because the users are clubbing types who have consistently when asked, said that they find this sort of navigation more exciting and aesthetic when navigating a site and would wish it in their site. So give the people what they want even though they know not how it pains me.
    Any views are welcome.

A nav should be instantly intuitive. This is not.

That is not innovative at all and I can say from personal experience it sucks. My school's online mail uses stuff like that... I'd say I'm 50/50 for sending my emails and sending them to the trash because of crappy navigation...

I would say that that atleast on mouseovers, you'd need to have "tooltips" that would pop up and tell you what each one is (similar to what happens when you mouseover an award icon here at WDF). Still though, text-less navigation is tough, esp when your representing pages that aren't on lots of sites, like "Room Red". I like the design, but it doesn't bode well for usability.

    innovative-
1 : the introduction of something new
2 : a new idea, method, or device

Mystery Meat Navigation never works. People don't like to think and this makes them do that. As filburt said, it should be intuitive. This isn't.

Perhaps what you could do is use the ultrahypermegatrendwhorish pixel font to label the pics underneath in order to create something more user-friendly.
