    looks like it could be made nice easily,
    id suggest thinning down the border on the content section and changing the colour to a darker grey, possibly black
    you should stick with ariel but make it smaller, maybe 12pt?

    At a background, perhaps diagonal stripes, it would do wonders for the site.

    solidgold - do you mean where the writing is, have a different border to the top part
    Perad - do you mean the background for the rest of the webpage. if so, how would i do the stripes, because it would have to work for different screen sizes so it can't be an image?

    in answer to the question directed at me:
    i mean the grey line surrounding both the content and the images at the top

    in answer to the question directed at perad, you would have to simply make a small, stripey image that you could set to repeat in the background, that would cover all screen resolutions.

    i might recommend adding some mouseovers to the links, which you can do easily in dreamweaver
