What do you about my 'rustic' and 'country' site?

Hey guys,
This site was actually for my boss who bought this big *** home out in the country and shes gonna rent it out. One of the biggest challenges was coming up with something 'rustic' which is the word she kept using every time I talked with her. I even soliticed everyones help, and BTW thanks to the feedback I was able to get a decent idea about what 'rustic' should be.

Anyway, all the content is mostly there, minus the pictures. The 'rates and availability' is still needing some text, but just looking for reviews on the concept, the graphics, and the overall feel...

Also, let me know what you think about the maps on the 'Location & Directions' page, and the 'Local Attractions' page, it was my first stab at making maps in illustrator.

(BTW the site has to be cactustrailsranch.com/index1.html , theres only text on the main domain...)

im not sure about the font; all im getting is times new roman, is this intended? also due to the massive amounts of images it took ages to load.
change the mailto: link to a nice contact form, itll look much more professional from a customer point-of-view.
just a minor point, but you should make the link back to you open in a new window, so as to save on confusion, other than those small things a good all round website!

Yes, times is what was intended. I thought it went well, and was thouroughly un-used today as far as fonts...

The email, yes Im working on a form now.

The new window for my site, well i always try not ot open new windows just as a rule, but ill think about it

Oooh, cute! I like it... except the Times, which I think should be georgia or verdana... and usually verdana is the font of choice for body text nowadays.

And of course it takes a long time to load. It's a whooping 850kbs!

Georgia or Palatino Linotype (which not everybody will have, but still) would do better, I think. Times New Roman, while different, still implies that you simply didn't define a font at all.

A little big? The header itself is 168kb - I can fit an entire homepage in that size! As far as I see, you only need 5 good-quality images - the header, 3 photos, and the background... The photos are each 50-90kb as well.... I'm astonished they can even be this large! Did you make them in 300dpi or something?

It didn't take that long to load for me. The right side of the policies page looks odd with nothing on it. Also there should be a :hover property for the links in the body text. I like it.

"Rustic" - I was expecting to hate it but actually quite liked it - I'd say you've done a pretty good job. I agree with font concerns - Times is a print font anyway, not a screen font (use Georgia if you must have a serif font). Personally, I would try trebuchet MS - a bit 2002 but it has a few curves in it that will give the rustic feel without breaking up on a computer screen.

I love this page, loaded great on my cable connection. When you finish it I would make the index page index.html, not index1.html.
