    Hi All,
Iím new here and I didnít see one of the usual introduce yourself threads so I guess ill start here.
I am completely new to web site building I am totally hopeless at it as well, I have been working on my site for 3 weeks and it still looks like a top competitor for the worlds worst ever site, I got dreamweaver from a friend along with photoshop CS so that helped a little.
I have been out of work for a wile so I decided to try and build one of those make money from the internet sites ( I hope you guys donít hate me for building one of those site with nothing but advertising on it, I know I hate those sites ).
So as you can probably see I could really use your opinions and suggestions to help me fix it up a little, I know its crap so please feel free to rip it apart. any help would be greatly appreciated and I will try my best with what little knowledge I have to give back what I take from these forums.
    Cheers,
    Simon.

Its not the worest site in the world. I know alot more worst. you got some things right
    1. you have a clean background
    2. text is easy to read
    3. ads are well placed
    4. all the information is presented well
but there are ways to improve you website for sure. Here are a few tips
    1. dont use table to layout the whole website
    2. dont use animated *.gif
    3. your nav look too much like plain old links. you need too show that its the nav
    4. you website is long, so have a small version of you nav in the footer.
You have to get away from tables. On use tables to display data in a table form, like you did in the green area, which is ok. But you can not have it as your whole website. You need to learn how to do XHTML and CSS from scatch.

Going thorough all this css is going to take some serious time!
i have been reading heaps and what I have learned so far it awesome I cant believe i didnít just do this in the first place using external style sheets makes editing the site a breeze. The only thing I donít understand it how do you make a table without having a table? Like there is three main sections to my home page there is the top banner section (I can see how I donít need a table for this), there is the left thin column and the right larger column. How do I make these two panels without tables? how do I set there widths? Without a table? Keeping in mind I would prefer to have a relative sized web page (I think thatís what you call it when you have a page that automatically adjusts to the screen resolution.)
and one last quick question in dreamweaver do i make one big table to put my hole page in?
Im sorry to ask so many questions but i am so very confused about this eliminating tables bit.
every bit of advice you guys give is so valuble, i have spen hours trying to find the answers to these questions.
again all your help it sooooo appreciated.
