It's much more semantic. However:
1. It validates as HTML 4 Strict, which is ancient compared to XHTML 1.0 Strict (what you want).
2. The blockquotes are unnecessary. You're not quoting anything.

not keen on the type used, but the nav text should be increased. far too small.
enlarging you thumbnail images to use some of the white space would look better, imo

i've got most of the quirks worked out...a friend of mine helped...got the nav in ie6 to show up its just off a bit but he;s supposed to be looking into it..he also cleaned up my code a bit![]()
