So -- Two versions, from two designers. Ignore actual content; We are focusing on:

    - The header
    - The three colored boxes

    So which design is better,
    "T1" http://demo.pixelsandpages.com/cartfly_t1/
    or
    "07" http://demo.pixelsandpages.com/cartfly07/mockup07e.html

Links to any supporting reasons are appreciated; for example if the color blue makes 10% of visitors puke, I would like (but don't need) the link that proves it.

    They both look pretty good.

I think the bevel/emboss one (T1) is the better looking of the two. Gives it a more 3 dimensional look, without taking too much away from the design.

The other one (07) is fine. I think the pink salmon colored box doesn't really flow with the rest of the colors.

Also, that logo for the T1 is pretty cool logo (I know you didn't ask for a review of that)........but it sure looks cool.

But is it more distracting, drawing attention away from the content? These headers will go on every page of the site.

I like the the 07 one more becuase I am not a fan of bevel unless it is pulled off well, which is rare and you are not one of them imo. I think 07 looks cleaner.

no 1 for me. i think you need to tone down the gradients tho. seems to have a better more dynamic look but too much on the old effects.

the 2nd seems a bit bland

somewhere in the middle of both design would be good, i think

What is the actual goal of either design? IS this for an online store? More background information would be helpful.

As is, I don't think one design stands too far apart from the other.

    Agreed.

Both use tables for layout, though, and therefore neither is semantic.

Neither of them really do anything for me, but of the 2, 07 is best.

oooh never looked at the source. Go convert it to CSS, tables are now dead and frowned upon unless you are providing tabular data
