    Also, maybe looking into using photoshop? the site is just...plain. old school, but, plain.

    The site is pretty plain and not much to it from a design element. In which case, there isn't much to review.
    I can say that you do need to make sure the content tells the story with a plain site like that.
    The content should have more than just a little blurb. What awards has she won? Does she do appearances (maybe a calendar)? Where is some of her work shown (state that if that is what the links are supposed to be.
    As for the links, just link the names on the left. No need to have the name on the left and then the FULL link to the right.

    Being new, your sites will always look better as your skills develop.

    I'm amazed when I go back to a site I designed even just a few years ago and ask myself why I did something that way or this way.
