Web app/design critique

A friend and I would like some critique on our website, Football Rumours.

The content volume should hopefully pick up as time goes on.

I'm mainly looking for opinions about the design of the site, and whether the software is fit for purpose.

It is not bad. Very plain/simple. Colors are simple and fit your theme.
Easy to navigate.

Needs more of a "design" element, but there is also something to be said about keeping it simple.

I think your should at least expand on your logo (soccer ball and soccer secrets text). If not design an actual logo, you should at least make the soccer secrets text a bit bigger.
It is small and you kind of lose it in the banner.

I have increased the font size, but I think I will get round to creating a proper logo.

A lot of the text is the same size, and color. I would maybe use different colors, sizes to indicate how important an element is.

For example (on the first rumor):
You coudl makethe title a bit bigger, and maybe a darker grey.
The text could stay that color grey.
The meta information at the bottom (who submitted etc...) could be a lighter grey, a bit smaller, and somehow more contained, so that it doesn't flow with the actual rumor info.

This website is very plain... I really believe that if you try and add some accents to some of your elements you might be more successful...

The green could be complemented by a lighter green or a yellow green just to give it some color depth and dimension...

As it stands right now... nobody will rememeber your website since it have very little that makes it separate from a plain white piece of paper...

Do not be afraid to use color... Other than that... it is very clean... Meaning... I am led to believe that you are professional and reliable... but the poor three dimensional depth on the soccer ball tells me different...

I am not a huge fan of the green or the banner. I suppose that green fits your theme. I think the site would do much better with more pictures and graphics. Good site overall.
