    Hi Guys,

Just a quick one from me, I have recently re-designed an old website of mine and am awaiting some feedback and comments on it. Please be honest and let me know what you do and don't like.

    Liverpool In A Nutshell

    Thanks and in advance, Alan

Looks pretty good, takes a while to load.

I would strive to put Liverpool in context, location to major (non-Beatles) attractions ...map, etc.

    Hi Alan,

It loaded quickly for me (FF 2.0 High-speed connection). I think it looks really nice and the colors are spot on.

If SEO is an issue on this site, have you thought about possibly calling all the javascript from separate files? Or at least putting the javascript at the end of the code? Just my opinion.

    Site looks real nice .

A lot of gradients and boxiness going on, but you have a lot of good content in there. Are you using a CMS?

Also, the grey bar around the main content is a little out of place.

Good job. a little wide for my tastes, but im on 1024x768, so thats my own fault.

    Cheers

thanks for the comments, some good feedback cheers

the site isn't using a cms i designed it from scratch, i agree it is a little wide and takes some getting used to but i think it kind of grows on you

thanks cctech i will consider putting javascript in a seperate file to cut the code down a bit

Very "glassy," it is a bit much. There is an empty white box above the site, and I don't know if it is an ad being blocked by Opera, or what, but it detracts from the site. Also, the "Liverpool in a Nutshell" text in the header is wierd looking, I think it has to do with the thin white outline, and then the shadow.

Not a bad start at all! Good luck.

I like the city background in the header but there are too many shiny items for my taste. In my opinion shine can look great when used in moderation. I would also try to have subtler gradients (it looks like some of that shine is 100% opaque white).

Is there any good reason to allow users to choose the color scheme? If not, I would omit it as it is just another shiny object that pops out at you needlessly.

I would also try to use more pictures, but that may just be me.

You may also want to find a way to differentiate the different sections better. They have different colors but everything else about them is the same. This makes it harder for me to find exactly what I am interested in as there is not enough contrast.

Other than that, looks good. Great start.
