I haven't been in web design in a while, but I am doing my friend a favour, so I am making a portfolio for his photography work. I started off with a couple of websites that my friend liked, then build from there.

You could see the XHTML version at http://kaylelang.110mb.com/crisspeller/ but it doesn't render is all browsers correctly yet(only works in firefox right now), but I also have a screen shot attached to this post.

So without ripping it into pieces, what should I do to improve it (other then the render issues)

I think it's quite a nice design. I liked the picture and the color choice. It's a good job, Kayo )) But don't you want to make the main part of your site (I mean the one with the picture and content) bigger. Maybe not full width and height, but just a little bit bigger, because otherwise there is too much empty space on the screen.

    Hmm...looks nice
However, I would change the button scheme. Try to not make them look...indented, if you know what I mean.

Ok, since I finally got some of my Friend's work, I made some changes
    1. replaced the header with one of my friend's picture
    2. contact information is accurate
    3. The paragraph on the home page was written by him
    4. added the Architecture page
    5. added lightbox to show photos
as for the buttons, I don't know what it should look like. The colors looked a lot like steampowered.com, so I used the buttons they is used on their program, and I though it worked.

Well, I was thinking that maybe you could make them stand out, like the 'post reply' button underneath the quick-post, instead of appearing 'embedded,' so to speak, within the webpage.
