    I am just starting on a website for a local orthodontist. I am very unsure of the design I have so far, and need to be finished by Monday. Any input would be great!!

    The flash header is huge, and the wrong aesthetic for the site. Grunge? ...For a medical practice of any kind, grunge implies poor sanitary conditions. Not to mention red -- the color of blood -- is none too appealing applied to a orthodontia. The type chosen is also questionable and the header takes too long to load ...and when the header is pointless any time to load is too long.

    Unfortunately people don't know branding, they simply convince themselves anything they like is good for someone else with different perceptions.

    For copy, if the doctor-patient relationship is so close you get customers to tell your story. That's the definition of "close relationship." Really, the copy is generic drivel, mostly designed to fill the Divs and get through the chore of writing. The real job of copy is to inform and sell.

    The site is really off target. I don't even want to get into the code. No consideration is given potential customers, and the imagery and copy clearly communicates this.

    -- Study competitor sites. Use before and after photos.

    -- Either figure out some way to show your client is close with patients or don't make the empty claim.

    -- Find the Unique Selling Proposition for this client. "We cater to cowards" is directly targeted at a potential customer. Then use body copy to explain how you use electronic anesthetics so there is no pinch from a needle, for instance.

    -- If location is pretty good, put in a map. If the location is tricky to find, again, put in a map. Or at least some small hint somebody thought about a target user trying to use the site for some task.

    The site strikes me as purposeless. There is no credible claim for anything but generating web design billable. The aesthetics are actually the worst possible for branding purposes. There is little evidence of research into the customer or making a website which gets a visitor to become a customer.
