    Hi,

I asked sometime ago for seem feedback on my website: http://www.roughcutreviews.com and a lot of you responded so thank you. I been working on a re-design for a bit now which includes XHTML and CSS (Yeah, I learned!) and would now really love ur opinions/feedback on the site. Its at: http://www.roughcutreviews.com/beta

Most of the sections are up but only the Alien vs Predator Requiem review is up as far as reviews go...

    Thanks

This version is much better than the old one. The black on white is way more readable.

Nevertheless, the contrast between the black background and the white boxes is quite strong for the eye for my taste. I know you want to keep that b/w feel that is characteristic of the movie theme, but perhaps some nuances could be considered. Also, the high contrast makes the content extremely boxy and harder to integrate other graphic elements as these would have to conform to the box model (10px red border with white background) you created. This been said, for a crowd interested in a visual media, you could add more graphic elements and put the central text about the mission/goals/status of the website on another page, like About Us.

The left menu is a good improvment, better than the film strip that had items barely readable.

Talking about adding some graphic elements, I saw that you had a link at the bottom of the first page that says "Competition : Win a DVD". I would make a BIG statement at the top of the page to get the attention, if you know what I mean.

Thats a great thing that you decided to learn CSS based layout.

Brillant, thanks man. I'll def work on the feedback. Far as the black is concerned I was never in love with it but a lot of my regulars seemed to comment on that the most. I'll play around a bit with it and see what happens.

Also with regards to the border do you think the 10px border is overboard? Had thought of bringing it down a little.

Also the competition thingie, Ill def do that whenevr my next competition goes up!
