Hi all, 2 weeks ago I was out from work due to surgery and decided to try to make a website using notepad. I read about xhtml and started trying it and this is what I have so far.

Please remember I am a complete newbie and I know I have alot more to learn but am I headed in the right direction?

(Currently I have started reading about CSS and PHP so that once I have html down better I can move on)

    What's all this about?

    Code:
    <p style="text-align:center"<span style="font-family...
    a. <p> tag isn't terminated
    b. this code looks generated - I don't believe you did it in notepad. Why on earth would you use style attributes in <span> tags in this way? Surely you'd simply either define a class or you'd put it in the style attribute of the <p> tag?

Sorry, but some sort of WYSIWYG has been used here.

    Hi,
Instead of starting and writing a new site in Notepad as you are totally un familiar with the html coding... i recommend using Dreamweaver, in that way, any newbie can take care of designing and rest is the job of CS3...you can try for 1 month...

    thanks,
    Julia

Hmm...perhaps a bit of content on the home page would be nice, as well as adding a copyright symbol in front of the line of text.
Yes, if you are new to HTML code, designing in Notepad is not such a good idea. Develop a proficiency for code before you venture into designing in pure code - the design mode in Dreamweaver is good for newcomers in the field of web design.
