I have moved on from working at large web design companies to focus more on my own smaller but more efficient company.

Hard to make a living in web design anymore but I don't want to leave.

I've lowered my pricing to compete with India and win. What do you think?

I lowered my price for the same reason and found I had less business, so I increased my prices and geared toward larger companies, I found that I had less work but a better income.
    If that makes sense?

My main concern is your top navigation as its created using images.

Search engines cannot read engines and have now way of indexing your site. Use css to create and style the nav.

I find that if you lower your prices it doesn't always mean more business, in fact often it means less.

It's like buying a bottle of wine... folks assume that if they spend 15 on a bottle it'll be better than if they pay 5... so many folks don't even consider the 5 ones, even though the differences may be minor... when you want to replace the windows on your house which do you go for... the established double glazing firm that costs 9,000 or the fella down the road who says "no problem geezer, bung us 900 and I'll sort it for you" ??

Often people will be suspicious if you're selling what they consider "too cheap"... they'll be thinking "wonder why he's so cheap - dare I risk it?" and they may not.

So price realistically - not excessive, but not "giving it away" either... and you'll hopefully get lots of work.

And remember, the advantage you have over the Indians is that you are a physical entity in the local area (assuming you're marketing to folks relatively close by) and they know they can ring you up, ask you to call around to chat about a problem or whatever... that means a lot to many people.

I wasn't aware of this... he's only using images in place of text anyway (the hyperlinks are there) so surely as long as he has alt tags he'll be fine?

Anyway, I think it looks pretty good for the sort of thing it is - only note of concern is the demo store... you may already be doing it, but I'd be inclined to set up a cron job or similar to refresh it each night if you're offering access to the admin area... last thing you want is somebody turning it into a hardcore porn site, that wouldn't look good for your business and, trust me, it happens... folks are sick.

Thank you very much, all of you for all your input.

Your suggestions make a lot of sense. I think I will be raising my prices. I would rather have fewer clients and provide great services.

You were right about the lower prices, I've had some strange phone calls from clients questioning my abilities, they simply don't believe that the websites I build will work... they think it's a scam or something, so weird...

I ran the site through one of those site analyzers, seems that some images are too large, will have to continue working...

Thanks again, I really appreciate all the feedback, It help a lot

I like the site I just think that there is too much white space and agree with the pricing as mentioned above, people need to believe that they are getting a top quality service and the best way to do that initially is to have the right price for your product.
