    Why not use a div/span/iframe/etc ? I'm confused why you would need a textarea... the idea of a textarea is that it IS eraseable

    If you want to disable a textarea, you can use Javascript
    Code:
    <script language="javascript">
    function disableElement(id) {
       document.getElementById(id).disabled = true;
    }
    </script>

    <body onload="disableElement('ta')">
    <textarea id="ta">This is disabled</textarea>
    </body>

    UNERASABLE TEXTAREA

    In order to obtain an "Unerasable Textarea" you may simply use the optional "readonly" attribute of the "textarea" tag.
    It seems to work fine.

    html code
    <textarea readonly name="abc" rows="10" cols="50" ...>your unerasable text here</textarea>

    more
    Attribute: readonly
    Value: readonly
    Description: user cannot modify the content in the text-area

    Best Regards.
