    Hello all.

I am new to WDF. My name is Daniel. I am a freelance web and graphic designer based in Illinois. I've been working on the web for over 10 years, so I know what's right and what's wrong (and what I can get away with.) I have just completed a rebranding and redesign of my portfolio site, and would love to know what you think of it.

I am always looking for constructive feedback, and would love to hear what you like or dislike about it. Thanks in advance for taking the time to reply, and I look forward to having fun here on WDF.

Looks really nice. My only complaint is the page itself loads slowly, and I'm on cable connection, and the lightbox takes forever, as well. You might want to add a little content to the page, you know, tell your potential clients a little more about yourself and your experience. You mention ten years experience, but not what you actually have experience with. And your CSS doesn't really validate.

Looks good to me. Only thing I can comment on is that everything looks a little "big". By that I mean the previews of your work. Maybe cut the height of the images in half and condense them a little bit more. Just my opinion but other than that I think it looks great. Nice and clean.

I've noticed that, and wasn't quite sure if it was just my connection. I've been working on tweaking some of the preview images in an effort to get them to load faster.

And your CSS doesn't really validate.
I knew that already too. The original version, from when I first opened the site, validated just fine. For some reason here recently, it decided to be contrary. I meant to double-check it, but it just slipped my mind.

EDIT: I just double-checked the validation, and both the XHTML and the CSS validates. The CSS link at the bottom doesn't quite work like it should, but it does validate.

Only thing I can comment on is that everything looks a little "big". By that I mean the previews of your work.
That's something that I've been trying to tweak, as well. I'll try sizing them down a little smaller and see how that works out.

Thank you all for your input.

The only thing i see (Most designer sites are micro sites keep in mind.) is the images at bottom slow your page load. with an image that small loading so slowly tells me you resized it in the <img tag. you could resize it with an image program then re-upload to the server and remove the width and height from the <img tag. potential clients my wonder how long your designs will take to load on a scalable site. by the by. you dont have to recast your vote but I liked how forward your post was about my site. i have fixed a few things if you would have another look. thx much. www.studio378d.com

oh and w3 validation is over rated, the ratio of standards compliant browsers is to small to worry about at this point. what maters is the ratio of mainstream browsers your site works on. that is the standard.

I do not resize images from within the image tag. Like I said, I've been in the field of web design for over 10 years now. I most certainly know better than that.

Once again, I am looking into the loading problem. I'll try some different compression techniques and see what I can come up with.
