Against most advice, I have put my bulletin board into a frame. The few who have seen it don't like it----but they also don't like ANY frames.... so please have a look.

PS---Can someone please tell me how to make the middle scrollbar more narrow? HTML-101 maybe but---for some reason, I just can't find out how---please, do tell. Thank you.

You might want to add a margin here and nuke the horizontal scrolling here:

:classic: Hey wow, thank you for the succinct advice, Filburt!

I did think maybe I should put more margin on the left---and since you point it out, I think I will...

The side-scrolling just can't be helped though---there is an entire page over there full of non-essential information. I figure that for the rare times when someone wants that information, they can move the scrollbar. But maybe design-wise, you think it's more shrewd just to eliminate that information?

Also are you implying that except for those touches, my "frame" design just might be acceptable?

(Everyone else who has seen it, seems to just hate it---but that is only a few who are BB owners themselves, any maybe tend to have a certain point of view...)

I for one don't like frames; among other things they make bookmarking pages harder and is counterintuitive at times: when I scroll down why doesn't everything move?

Frames are being phased out too (mostly only for crappy ads now ) and not all browsers support them. Of course those browsers don't support graphics or tables either

If your users like the framed view, why change? Whatever satisfies them.

BTW you can't modify the width of a scrollbar; check out http://www.htmlcompendium.org/ for HTML references.

You can fake a scrollbar using Javascript/Flash but god help us all if it came to that.
