updated freelance web designer portfolio
Hi Craig,
There is a lot to like about your site. Visual impression clean and crisp. A subtle color palette that is unique.
If I had one comment, it would be that the design is overly strong one respect: I feel mildly confused on first entry into the website. The portfolio samples you show (great idea by the way), combined with the name of the website craiglongmuir, at first leads me to believe this site is about a villa in Thailand, or, perhaps it's an architectural company website. Only when I look down further in the page, and read some text, do I "get" you are a web designer.
Granted, an interested audience member would probably figure it out. But there are those that won't, and at a minimum you want people to know how you can help them in the first second of arrival.
The fix for this, wouldn't take very much. Keep everything as you have it now, but add a message line in the header somewhere near your name: Freeland web designer.

thanks for the reply, and ill take a look at the options
I agree with Rick, and I'd like to add one more thing...it's too obviously "SEOed". If phrases don't read organically, then you shouldn't include them. I understand why you want to rank for "website design Sydney" but if it doesn't read organically, then any SEO efforts you make pretty well end up negated by the users who may be turned off by the grammatical issue the phrase poses. The same logic applies to the entire footer menu.
Your code is pretty clean. I dig clean code. Clean code is awesome. You've got mad skills.
If I've helped you out in any way, please pay it forward. My wife and I are walking for Autism Speaks. Please donate, and thanks.
If someone helped you out, be sure to "Like" their post and/or help them in kind. The "Like" link is on the bottom right of each post, beside the "Share" link.

Ooh pretty.
Yes, this is my entire review. Well done![]()
I like the design a lot. Nice and clean. I think your logo can be a bit bigger though and I'm not sure about that red talk bubble thing you have in the image area. The red sticks out like a sore thumb to me. Have you considered making it another color, perhaps that pretty blue in your logo?
I really like the picture you used for the about section. Relaxed and natural. It seems to fit with the rest of the site.
