I just had an idea tonight for a cool tool for forums... a NSFW image scrambler.

Basically, you put your URL in to the tool, it scrambles the image, and spits out some BB Code so you can post it in any thread.

Here's are a couple examples of the output using Car Porn (instead of real NSFW porn lol)

As you can see, it works equally well for very large and not-so-large images.

Go to Swafer.com to try it out. Help me iron out the kinks!

(I've only put a couple hours work into this, so it's pretty rough looking still!)

Looks like the image is still pretty visible once scrambled...

This is a great little tool and I am sure it could be used to increase security like recaptures. A simple implementation could be during a sign-up process, the prospective member could click the image to view two clearly typed words. (Far easier on the eyes than recaptures) obviously this would provide a level of security that forum bots etc could not by-pass so easily.

    Best regards
    Arran Wood

P.S. If you wish to develop this idea much further, please feel free to give me a shout I may be able to help you.

I agree with ArranWood. It would be a great security tool and alternative to recaptures.

    I really like it.

I agree you ought to work in the Captcha angle. Other than that, I don't understand the reason. To make a forum appear child-safe when it's not? Better just to be very strict or very clear about not being strict. Other than that, if not strict, then my main objection to borderline naughtiness (bikini photos and such) is when used as avatars, they become annoying if they don't change. So I would put more emphasis on random rotation of multiple avatars.

As for really bad pix, that's for really bad forums. They call themselves "adult" meaning of course poo-poo, pee-pee and all that.

Or maybe you are saying, any uploaded photo gets scrambled until a moderator clicks an "unscramble" button? That makes sense.
