I want to be able to play MP3 samples on a site without the user being able to save the sample, just so they can listen to it. Which way do i go doing this?

That is extremely hard to do by just embedding the file on the page. My suggestion is to use a Flash object; that way, you can put your own Play/Stop controls on there the way you like it, and because (if you set the options correctly) Flash movies can't be reimported into Flash it would be hard to rip the sound of it.
QuickTime has a feature to not allow saving of movies (MP3s in this case) but it's easy to circumvent.

That's what someone else suggested, so how would i use a flash object to play an auido clip? I have seen an embedded windows media player used to show a short movie clip don't know how that worked. One of the things i want is for the site to be smooth and easy to use. So with any sound clip i am going to be hanging around for it to load?? Will flash take any longer?
Flash is very fast-loading, actually WiMP and other players (particurally QuickTime and horrible RealPlayer) take much longer to load.
I don't have much experience with Flash, but I've gotten this to work before: import the MP3, make it the first frame on the timeline, and it should automatically play when the movie starts playing.

The only problem is there is going to be multiple songs on the site not just one, maybe 50 or so. I have the software to cut up the song into 30secs clips. This is not going to be an easy task?? or do you think it would be?
You can just make multiple Flash movies and put them all on the same page (with play buttons for each, of course).
You can see where I'm getting at at http://www.flashkit.com/ 's SoundFX library.

That's been a great help thanks for that.

Why not simply have them hosted at mp3.com? Have mine linked to there from my own site. And yes, you can stipulate whether available for download or streaming only.
