    Hi guys,

I just relaunched my portfolio site. For the most part, it should be okay, but there may be some odd goofiness since I just put it up.

There also will be an addon at some point in the future (a blog of sorts), so this is part of the reason for the redesign.

Anyway, leave your thoughts as usual. I may adjust a couple of things this weekend, but I actually think it turned out kind of sort of maybe okay for the most part.

Okay, you bastards, I figured out how to get the contact email link on the same line. It looked like a bag of *** the first time I did it, but it's okay now.

I'm still leaving the header fixed for now, and I'm still leaving the portfolio at the top. The exact height of the header is 266 pixels, and I'm okay with that for the time being. I'm going to see what happens with this.

I think I know what's making the home page load slower than I would like, and it should be fixable tomorrow. I'm going to have to mess with it to make it happen, though.

It wasn't that. Things just got all squished the first time I did it, so I went this route. But then I saw why.

Steven: as far as "text-heavy pages", were you talking about the "About/Services" pages? Because those are the ones I was going to look at rewriting anyway. I left them until last in the interest of getting the new layout up and getting the back/front end all figured out (if I told you how I actually edit these pages you'd probably kill yourself laughing, but it's something I did simply to find out if I could and because i have a future application for one of my clients).

And where exactly would I put icons (more importantly, what) in the layout? I'm going to rewrite some of the pages anyway, but I'm intentionally trying to keep the use of icons to a minimum 1) because I can't draw them worth a crap, 2) because the free ones almost never fit with what I'm trying to do and 3) because that's not what I'm going for. I'm also not just going to stick them in unless they work.
Have you seen the Noun Project?

Anyway, looks like I'm seeing this a few fixes in. The main page does feel a bit text heavy. Of course, that's as opposed to mine, which has almost no visible text on it at all. If you relocated the slider gallery, the header would be perfect, sizewise.

I like the way you laid out the portfolio page.

"Accelimation" is a JS DHTML technique, which is a combination of the words "acceleration" and "animation". It means non-linear animation velocity, also known as "easing a tween" in motion graphics.

Easing your animations makes them feel smoother and more natural. People have gotten used to this technique, so not using it is an eyesore.

Never, but I might be able to work with it. Mind you, I had a better idea last night but I'm going to implement it slowly. Thanks.

Link? I tried Googling this after I asked about it last night and maybe it was 2.5 hours of a gym workout talking, but none of it made sense.

Chrome, and from what I saw of it, there was no anti-aliasing available for it. Like I said, it's the reason I use Cufon...I hate when I look at a non-web-optimized font that isn't anti-aliased.

This isn't a Google font, but it's an example of a pair of fonts that aren't anti-aliased and aren't web optimized. (Not for Steven's benefit because he knows this, but for the benefit of others).

My first French spam. How wonderful. Not even 12 hours in, too!

EDIT: Yes, I know I could sanitize input on the contact form, but in this case, I didn't because it only goes to my email for now.

Cufon is good for compatibility (More people have JS on compared to those who are running more modern browsers), also a large number of fonts won't work with CSS3 fonts, but will (illegally) work with cufon - So if it's for small amounts of text such (really only headers) that you want to render the same on all browsers then go for Cufon.

I think a real solution would be to drop your top of the page portfolio; it takes up too much space, is in the wrong place, and isn't very usable. It would look a lot better without it. If you want that to be perhaps after your header, then make sure it isn't fixed. Perhaps rethink the fixed header idea.

Your slider seems pretty big too, I'd consider reducing it maybe 100px or more.

You should probably take your <h2>'s down in size a bit, they're only 4px smaller than <h1>. Also consider swapping px for em for accessibility reasons.

Not too fond of your footer colours, seems like a bit of an afterthought at the moment.

The big issue is the large fixed header though!
