    This is my portfolio I am about to launch. It is going to be a fun type of portfolio site that will host my work and my blog and will allow me to experiment with new technologies and ideas, hopefully it will also get some links from galleries etc. [Edit: link removed. The link in the "View Site" area above is sufficient. Alphamare.] It will be fully run on WordPress and use custom post types for the portfolio section.

    After just a quick peek, it's clear you spent some time on your custom theme - I really like the way it hangs together - all the icy cutouts for the portfolio items on the home page and and the Ice cube embedded social icons are great, as is the footer. I'd keep the feeling going by replacing the wood frames with icy ones for the nav, and the items in the "My Work" section. (Although since I am currently sitting in Canada where it's supposed to go to -15 Celsius tonight, I got a bit chilly looking at it!)

    Thanks for the reply. I tried using the ice feel instead of the board but it just seemed a little too much. I really wanted to introduce one more texture to give it that rustic/cold feel. I kinda wanted to give it that little village type of feel with the old wooden signs etc. but maybe I need to look into that again. Thanks!

    Penguins seldom use wood in their construction (LOL) - maybe igloo-style-cubes for the frames? Or if you're going with the wood frames, keep it consistent and use them throughout.

    I think maybe that's what bothered me so much - the rest of the site is so coherent and harmonious graphically that the wooden elements seem out of place. Maybe all you need is some icicles hanging off the wood?

    Anyway, just my opinion - and overall I'm very impressed with the site (and quite envious, too!)

    Check your links from your portfolio page -

    You've got some layout difficulties in IE, Opera - check the nav width

    Also in IE and Flock you've got those blue boxes around your image links - you may want to go into your CSS and give them a {border:none;}

    Yeah I agree, I will look into the wood and see what else I can do. As for the compatibility I have really only tested in Firefox. I will test in all the others when I go live. I still have a lot of tweaks and additions to make. Im gonna play around with some fun JQuery stuff and see what happens.

    Thanks!

    That's because they're better than that other one... the one that makes its own rules and refuses to play nicely with others, because its Daddy is rich.
