You must be a diehard Cubs fan. Only the diehards admit to being Cubs fans. Not that it matters...my Jays are the team that's gonna take it in 2012. (Fellow diehard).
You've got a whole bunch of space for your logo that you don't need. You could easily cut out 75% of that white space and make your layout that much nicer. In that logo, you should use the same Cubs blue (use it throughout the site) as well...just ties things together.
Interesting start, but you'll probably be better served offering opinions than news, unless you can somehow sit in on their Cactus League games with a phone to record everything and somehow come up with exclusive scoops. If anything, you'll find a lot more readers if you talk about what an idiot Zambrano was and how you're happy to see the *** end of him. Talk about what you'd like to see Epstein do. Talk about how you'll be sitting at Wrigley throwing crap at Aramis when he returns. Talk about the hell you're going to raise when Prince returns to Wrigley in June as a Tiger (I just looked up the MLB schedule...Tigers/Cubs have an Interleague series this year).
Basically, spout off. There's always a reader market for an opinionated sports fan. Hell, if Leatherlung can attract national media attention, there's no reason anyone else can't.

Too much space in between the logo and the content of the blog, and IMO, I would change your Die Hard text and the text underneath it to match the color of the outlining of the Cubs logo. That would look good.
