    Hi Guys,

    I'd really appreciate your help!

How can I improve this design? My client's been a bit difficult and deviated from the original design (a very modern clean simplistic design), and a second design (which he approved then unapproved) and said he wants the site be a bit similar to cia.gov in terms of layout and colour.

This is my third site now for this client, so I'm feeling a bit defeated and demotivated and uncreative at the moment due to all of these changes and extra pressure. I'd just like to finish this and move on and I'd appreciate your expert feedback!

I've just kept it very simple as I've been busy with the layout of theme and responsive design - it's a wordpress site - so now I'm ready to make it look nice!

I was thinking vector images with taglines since they don't have photographs for the slideshow yet.

How can I add some spark or wow factor?

    Here's the link: http://bit.ly/SJgUlvKZi

    Thanks

Welcome to the corporate world, Lilly. Indecision may or may not be the problem of 95% of the people in it.

Personally, I wouldn't even worry all that much about the design, because it's not going to matter (insert inflammatory rhetoric from artists here). I say that because the site is excessively corporate and lacking in real content; the people involved have elected to write doublespeak such as this:
This includes forward-looking market sectors such as fast food franchises, investments and finance.
What is a "forward-looking market sector"? Is there a "backward-looking market sector"? Or a "sideways-looking" one? I have no clue why companies write things like that...the only people that talk like that have nothing to say and are just trying to impress their equally vapid corporate colleagues.

In other words, you can add all the "wow" factor you want, but it won't make a bit of difference simply because it's just a company ego inflater and will ultimately fail as a result. It doesn't address "what's in it for me?" It doesn't have a call to action. It doesn't have...well, much of anything, really.

NOTE: I don't blame you for the content. That's on them.

Game's right - I am more a designer than a programmer, and I can tell you that, apart from being a bit too monochromatic for my taste, there's really nothing wrong with the design.

But with the content they have there now, I don't know why I'd bother to stay on the site. What is it they actually want people to do? Are they offering a service? What's the purpose of the site?

Vectors for the slideshow will load slowly - try jpg or png versions of them.

If you want to change up the layout a bit, consider a footer of some kind, perhaps with a secondary background colour - and maybe put the Quicklinks in a second sidebar on the right...

I think it's odd (or just very arrogant) that the client assumes that everyone knows where Sandton is. No county, province, or country is in the address on the contact page...

Oh yeah...forgot about the contact map. Sandton is available on the map, but it doesn't show until you zoom out four times.

I guess he's working on it. I'm going to check back in a week, see what's shakin' then.
