I have some thoughts on this site, and I'm sure most of you who know me know what those are. But before I give them, I want to let others have a shot first.

Advertising in the header, 3 blank adspots, very bland, cookie-cutter site - as Wired said, nothing sets this apart from any other freelancing site.

Most of the jobs I saw, are tiny budgets for quite a lot of work; design a newsletter in under 2 days for less than $50, create a blog logo for under $50, make a Facebook app using all info from FB and making a catalog of products(?) for between $50 and $250, resolving an unspecified WordPress problem for less than $50, etc., etc.

I checked out every job I qualified for that I could see without registering, and there's nothing there that I would even consider.

Well...apparently everyone more or less covered my point of view.

The one thing that didn't get covered, and that no freelancing job site has ever really solved, is the number of jobs that are posted where someone is bound to be disappointed. Take this one for example:

    http://lanzee.com/project/217

At least one of three things is going to happen:

    1) The freelancer will spend more time generating the "thematically related SEO links" than (s)he will get paid for.
    2) The so-called SEO will get fewer links and less "SEO benefit" than (s)he expects.
    3) Whoever owns this site will eventually get nailed for unnatural inbound links.

The only person that deserves any sympathy whatsoever is 3), if 3) isn't the "SEO". However, someone's bound to get screwed over and there's bound to be acrimony as a result. And guess who gets blamed in the end? You, the freelance site owner.

You don't even need to do much else to make the site unique...just restrict your site to jobs that aren't obvious crap.

It would be cool to see identifiable logos that represent the different jobs. A banner job could be represented with a banner icon or flash logo, then on the top of the screen you can have a logo guide chart which gives explanation of what each represents. Color coding the different sections completely would be a better option as well. You should be able to click the word Price and have it display from high to low. Oh and I just found out NP stands for Non Public the hard way.

Should the bidding process be open like that? Where bidders can read comments and view the exact price of others' 'bid'? The tendering process for quotations is usually confidential. Leaves a lot of room for lowballing otherwise.

Good advice, dude, but I'm not convinced the OP has a legit interest in it. There are so many other things to address that he hasn't said a word about that he probably won't address yours.
