This is an old website I setup years ago and is need of a major update. Just purchased Dreamweaver, so am looking for idea and samples to get me started. Hope there is someone that will help an old fart! Lion Verle

The old site has decent organization, but aesthetic-wise, it looks quite awful. Solid blue text and background is just overbearing on eyes. Take a look at the background of these forums: light blue that is enough to distinguish the body from the background, but not overbearing and distracting.

    I would suggest 1 of 2 things:

    1. Use a Dreamweaver template (see here).
If you are indeed an old fart, then you know that you can't teach an old fart new tricks. Just kidding, but actually, it's probably not a good idea to start from scratch because it requires a lot of thinking and art decisions and layout planning. Instead, just get a template you like and go with it. If you want more artistic input, simply choose a barebones template.

    2. Look at other Lion organization websites.
The official Lion website is pretty good (here). Local chapters may not be nice though, as evidenced with this and this. Whatever you do, keep your website well-organized. Otherwise you'll end up with a cluttered site like the local chapters.

footer is very cramped, some padding would be nice.
the text in the bottom image is hard to read because of the busy background, tone it down by adding some transparency?

Thanks for taking the time to evaluate the website. I've looked at the suggested webpages/sites and would like to change the appearance on my site but am having problems imagining how my website would look using the templates. (Please remember I'm an old fart.) Also tried working with a template but couldn't get it to do everything that is already on the website. After playing with it for days I deleted it in frustration. Also the people using Facebook for tutorials make a lot of assumptions about the knowledge of the readers/viewers. I'm lost!

The Lions Club website seems very distracting to me due to the number of options and how they are displayed in small print.

It may not sound like it but I really appreciate effort and suggestions.

Thanks for responding, but don't understand the busy background comment. There is only a light gray background. Should it be lighter or simply removed? Thanks

is it adsense or similar where you don't see same content as me? because I see a background covered with colorful pins/medals that make the text "village" and the phone number and email address very hard to read.

Now I understand. Those are my two sponsors for the website. If you go to any other part of the website you will see the actual footer which is what I was looking at. I let the advertisers do what they want within the space allowed. Website would probably go under without their help. Thanks for following up. I need every bit of help I can get.
