    Need comments on returning visits rates for All-in-one Search Engine : Googlebye.com.

    Hi guys:

    I like the friendly atmosphere here although I'm just new here. Hope to have good communication with everybody.

    My site ( Googlebye.com ) is mainly a Search Engine with results coming from Google, Bing and Yahoo. It can also be used as a SEO ranking checking tool.

    The idea behind this site comes from that I don’t like searching many times on different search engines.

    After much hard promotion, I got some traffic to this site. However the returning visits rates keeps a low level of 20%. That means most visitors won’t come back.

    I’m quite confused about it so I get to here for your valuable comments like:
    Where should I improve for this site ?
    Do you feel any obstacles when using it ?
    Do you think this type of sites could be a alternate when searching ?
    ......
    Of course welcome comments not limited to above.

    Sincerely.
    Thanks in advance.

    I'm surprised your returning visitor rate is even that high. Obviously you haven't seen your idea done before, but it has been. A lot. There have been sites that have been done like this since the mid 90s, with a lot more engines than just these two (since Bing supplies Yahoo! with its results, they're pretty much the same). So your idea offers nothing new.

    Not only that, most of the "meta search engines" consolidate all of the results and merge them into one.big set of results. Mamma.com is one example, but there are a bunch of others.

    The question I have is why you're searching on several search engines so often that you get tired of it. About the only reason I can think of, and it's not a good one, is rank checking.

    I have no reason to go to your site since I do all of my researching on Google and only Google. I have taken the Bing "blind folder" test which pits Google vs Bing and I have picked google every time. So that is why your site doesn't draw people back. I am sure they come across it when trying to go to Google and then they don't return.

    This, too. I very rarely find anything on Bing that I can't find on Google.

    Hi guys:

    Thanks for your reviews and time on this site. According to your suggestion, I’v made some improvement including:
    * Added results from Duckduckgo. Now 4 engines included: Google, Bing, Yahoo and Duckduckgo;
    * Turning pages of results;
    * Shortcuts of Scrolling to Top and Scrolling to Next Page;
    * Search box fixed when scrolling.
    * Only two biggest engines displayed when visited for the first time.(So horizontal scrolling disappears.)

    Sincerely welcome your dropping in and your comments no matter good or bad.

    Again, it still doesn't add anything new. It's still meta search, it's been done, it's been beaten to death, and adding a search engine and a couple of minor features isn't going to change any of that.

    dogpile for meta search... they have been doing it for years...

    People are finnicky about their search engines... and unless you give them something to go WOW over... they won't return...

    I thought the new WOW in search was going to be searchme.com, but due to lack of funding... they folded in 2011(looks like yahoo bought the scraps)... I was impressed ( not an easy task )... and if I'd had like 70M to invest... I definitely would have.
