Would love feedback on my redesigned website

Hi everyone. I recently redesigned my website... but I feel like I've lost my fresh eyes and objective perspective a little bit, so I'm hoping for some feedback. Here's some of the key things I'm hoping to get opinions on:

NOTE: 2 Images included to show differences.

    Full site: bluefuze design

    1) The slider is intended to showcase and feature certain projects that I want to show off, as well as showcase testimonials which I feel are a powerful thing. But a friend recently suggested that I maybe try removing the slider, and simplify the page by doing so. In addition, sliders are all too common, so maybe it's more interesting to NOT have one, unless it dramatically adds a lot. Thoughts on if I should keep slider or not?

    2) The same friend also suggested that I make the portfolio teaser thumbs bigger, and into a 3 column grid rather than the small 4 column grid. Thoughts on this?

    3) Now, here's a big one I'm really struggling with. Do I include my illustration/art into the mix? My initial thinking was, NO... keep that separate, and keep the site more focussed on the professional design stuff. (So I hid that gallery on a separate page that you can only see by digging on my about page.) But the argument is that one of my strongest talents happens to be the artistic/illustration work. I don't want it to detract from the purpose of the site however. I don't want a prospective client for a website, for example, to come to my site and be turned off by it. That said, I have had people say they contacted me for design BECAUSE they liked seeing that illustrative creative side. So, I'm torn. Do I include the illustrative work (some of which happens to fall more on the fine art side), or not. bluefuze design | Art & Illustration Thoughts?

    4) Lastly, I'd really only like to have good stuff up. I've lost my objectivity on my own work a little bit. Of the pieces shown, do you think some should get removed to make the overall collection stronger? What do you think are the weakest (and strongest) pieces?

Thank you so, SO much for taking the time to read this and provide your feedback. It is immensely valuable to me. I'm looking for constructive feedback only, thanks.

    Hi Bluefuze

I love the design of your website! It is original and creative and has a fresh feel to it.

You ask about your slider but I don't think I actually found a slider on your site. I don't think it needs one but I would place some testimonials a bit more prominently on your home page.

I think the Oswald font is nice and subtle but not very legible for the titles under your portfolio teasers where you could perhaps increase the font size or weight somewhat.

I would indeed use three columns for your portfolio teasers and add some whites pace between them as it feels a bit crowded at present.

I don't see any reason why you shouldn't let your own art feature prominently on your site. It's very striking and I think it does well in highlighting your skills as a designer so I would keep it.

The four icons representing your services on the front page are perhaps a bit bland and generic and could benefit from a creative twist and perhaps a subtle infusion of blue consistent with your branding.

I think the subtle background pattern in the header and footer needs a bit more contrast to work.

    Best

Right now, you can only see it in the image I attached to the original post

This is yet another case of someone buying a theme, BigBangWP, and calling it their own work.

How can you call yourself a designer?

I am really getting sick of people who think that sticking a site up in Wordpress and using someone else's work on their site can qualify them to take money from people under what amounts to false pretenses. I'd like to know if you disclose to your clients that you did not code your own site.

And did you tell the folks at Rodrigo Resende Academy that you bought the Sterling theme from Themeforest for $55 to make their site? When you say you will be giving them , and I quote: "Fresh, custom design to suit your brand".

I am getting sick and tired of this kind of thievery. Yes, it is stealing, or at the least it is fraud, to pass off a purchased theme as your own work.
