Just getting my feet wet. Thoughts?

Put together a basic informational page for a close personal friend. I was looking to get some professional opinions, and otherwise hear what I could do better. Also to be fair, some of this is recycled bits from what I learned at w3schools website.

It is good - quite basic, but you do not need anything fancy for a doctor's website, colours are consistent, it is simple, predictable - well done. I would change "Restoring the doctor-patient relationship" to something that clearly shows what exactly he offers.

Aesthetically, I like it. It's simple, it gets the point across, the contrast ratio looks pretty good, and it doesn't look like it's a theme. Recycling bits from W3schools isn't the worst thing in the world. I also like the color scheme.

    A few things:

    1) I'd use darker icons against the light backgrounds. I get that you wanted to work the mint in, but if you're going to do that it either has to be a background color itself (which would look weird) or you'd have to mix in that dark chocolate brown background color (which may or may not look weird).

    2) http://www.stevenlsmithmd.com/forms/paymentSetup.pdf <-- "personal" is misspelled. It says "personel". My guess is that the doctor supplied it to you.

    3) The copy is primarily third person narrative. Conversational narrative tends to be more effective, particularly second-person narrative ("you" words...people like to know what's in it for them).

    4) Your Javascript has a typo. It says "serailize". That's why your form posts without utilizing the Javascript submission. I just did a test.

Thank you both. I was definitely was going for something simple, easy to read, and to the point.

Thats a great point. I'll bring it up next time I talk with him.

I struggled for a while trying to find a color / combo that worked with the rest and finally gave up, hence the recycled mint. I'll give it another go since it bothers me somewhat as well.

Oh wow. Good catch. I'll bring that to his attention so we can get that fixed.

    Makes sense.

SMH. Thanks for another good catch.

Again, I appreciate you guys taking the time to check it out. Glad that I can at least say i'm on the right track with it. First real site I've built for anything other than shits and gigs.

Yeah I like it simply because you aren't someone that is coming here asking us to review a site that you designed, and it not being another WP Theme. It's a great start so far, and you will only get better the more sites you do. It is basic but like others have said you did great with the colors. Lately what I have been doing is going to Pinterest, and I will search for similar websites/or web design in general and it helps me to come up with a color scheme for the project before me. I also do the same to research what type of info/sections/actions that my clients particular website should have, such as services or a gallery etc.

I would also recommend https://www.codecademy.com/learn/web to help further your learning, if you are learning on your own.
