    Please critique my website

    Hi all

I am running a small business audio restoration responsive design site. I am interested to hear any feedback regarding any improvements you think I could make.

    https://forensic-audio.com.au

    Cheers!

First off it seems to be responsive which is one good thing.

The home page seems like it doesn't grab me. You have the logo and menu then your text looks more like a blob of words then the sound wave photo. In many cases if someone doesn't see a home page that captures their interest they will leave the site.

You have some nice samples of your work but they would be easy to miss and are hard to find.

Your about us page seems impersonal.

I am no expert but here are a few of the changes I would suggest.

Add a photo to the home page

Make a separate page for the samples of your work, Put a description of what you did on each and make a highly visible graphic link from the home page.

Break up that paragraph on the home page and go a series of bullet point selling points.

On the about us page talk a little more about yourself, your background and your experience. People buy from people.

On your samples of you work it might be good to include a few that have just a bit less change. The ones I listened to went from pure static to quite clear but having a few that were less changed might be good as well.

Having a call to action on your home page might also be a good move. perhaps a graphic that says something like "Get a free quote" with a link to your contact page.

turboguy makes some very good points. I too like the simplicity of design. My concern is about your target audience. What are they searching for? Almost no one searches for "forensic audio" or "audio repair". I do find a fairly good number of searches for "audio restoration" - more than 10 times as much demand.

    Keyword Demand Supply

    audio restoration 3721 1402
    audio restoration software 960 154
    digital audio restoration 94 37
quality audio restoration tools plus 57 2
    audio restoration free 51 1
    affordable audio restoration 45 26
    audio restoration tools 37 62
    quality audio restoration 30 9
    audio tools with 6 restoration 28 9
    sound audio restoration 26 5
    audio recording restoration 26 26

Demand and Supply numbers vary by keyword tool but the ratio is important to note.

Sorry for splitting my post into two segments but I have trouble getting the table to format properly without too much work.

You have written your home page almost entirely about yourself - your audience won't care until they get to know you better. Your home page should be about your target market - what are their pain points and how can you help them.

    Hi Guys,

Thanks for the feedback. I am busy redesigning my site. The first thing I'm doing is changing the way the example audio files are handled. There will now be a link from the front page. Also, I'm splitting up the examples to one per page. I will be adding text describing the issues with the sound sample and how i fixed it. I am also re-writing the about page, and will be adding two large graphic elements - "Examples" and "Get a free quote".

BTW - I'm on the Google Australia front page for "Audio restoration Australia"

BTW - Is my site really that visually unappealing? I'm no graphic designer and built the site in Muse, but I thought it came out well?

It's not terrible but could be improved. We could lie to you and rave about how beautiful it is to make you feel better but I do think it needs a little more work. I like your logo. It looks good. The menu is ok, I think if you even move the graphic ahead of the text and left less white space and then reworked your text to make it more readable then it might be pretty decent.

I do think people have different expectations based on what they are looking for. As an example if I am on the site of a major corporation I expect the site to look great and operate smoothly but if I am on the site for a small business I am not turned off by some rough spots if it is something I am interested in.

If I were redoing it I would rework the text something like this. I didn't change your words just the format to make it more readable.
