SSI Probs

Hi everybody, I'm Josh. I have recently converted my navigation into a seperate page and use ssi to inlude it onto my index.shtml page. I get something strange. When I upload it to the root directory it displays the entire page underneath the left navigation (which is what is included with the ssi) but if I make a directory on the server and upload it to that it displays normally. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to why and if so how to fix it. I wouldn't mind using a different form of code (i've been told by a few people that it is possible by other methods such as php but I haven't been able to find any information on that). I'm really open minded about the ways to correct this. I even considered making a simple redirection page on the root directory and have it redirect to on of the directories that I create on my server. (thats what I have it doing now although I mess with it so much if u view my page there is no telling what will be going on:cheeky: . Thanks in advace for any advice whatsoever. JR

You can use PHP like so. Just rename your page from .shtml to .php and use this:

<? require('filename.html'); ?>
.
.
.

(the dots represent extra code)

Virtually any server-side language can do this. JSP can and I bet ASP can as well.
