Please compare those two desings (speed and "look").

The site looks pretty good apart from the banner on the right, it looks like an external advert...

Also the email form that pops up when you click on the copyright notice seems random, as it doesn't look like a link.

You may want to have rollovers for your site navigation too, just for the sake of anthropmetrics

personally i like the look of the second one however it doesnt seem that "inviting". the redesigned version seems like it will have more of a "returning visitor" quality to it. good job on the redesign i like it.

i'd have the headeron the right do slow alpah transions rather than the fast movement which makes it look like an ad.

Site looks fantastic, the orgional looks good but reminds me of a templated site. The redesign looks alot better, looks like the layout fits the subject matter very well. And is much faster. Didnt really mind the ad to the right, but unless you want to eventually put skyscraper ads there i would try to intergrate that space into the rest of the site better.

Regarding the pop up, I would have never known it existed because I am one of those who has pop ups blocked. I am of the train of thought that pop-ups can really enhance a site but only if you intiate the popup such as by clicking a link and not by a page generating it for me. Such as a sign in window.

So i think that if you are going to have popups that are generated by the page, they should not have any import information because many popup blockers block those, but they do not block popups generated by the user such as clicking a link.
