Please critic my design style!!

I am just kinda mid way through this new project!
Its a database driven site with a built in CMS thanks to "Kevin Yank" the books great Kev!
Im after your thoughts on my design style rather than my php ability!

I dont like the times font and the bg graphics are jaggy. But otherwise its fine

Thanks for the tips about the font, I changed it looks much better, I always seem to make the mistake of using my default font of time's new! perhaps i better default to something else for the future!!

Well I dont know about one hell of a coder but, the book by Kevin Yank "Build your own database driven website using Php & MySql" certainly give me a good starting point!!

Any ideas on how to make my design Excellent Rather than just ok????
Like everyone else im going for a 5 star rating so any advice would be great!! I pretty good a taking critisism!!

Your borders don't really look good on your page, I think it is because some of them are thick and some are thin, also they look really jagged when curving on the corners.

Your title and banner need some work, maybe some graphics or nice design, also the title text shouldn't be beveled and that is a huge drop shadow behind it :ermm:

I don't think the design is terrible, but add some more graphics to give it some interest.

I like the layout, but the graphics are awful.

All of your corners are jagged. The phrase in brush script needs to be anti-aliased. Brush up on your photoshop skills, and add some better graphics...it'll look 100% better.

The title at the top "Silverside Home" needs some work.. it looks too dark does not pop at all, im not talking about font but just in contrast.. then there is the alrady said comments like the boarders and overall jaggedness in some areas..

I hope you dont mind but i took a miniute and worked on the header graphic a bit to show you what i was talking about..

just as an example as to what you might want to consider.. make it look inviting.. your layout looks good just needs some minor polishing.. good work.

Now i am armed with my list of ideas as follows:

New Graphics
New Title Banner
Sort out the Anti-Aliasing problem
Fix the Borders make them all the same
Generally read a few photoshop tutorials


You guys have given me a way forward and for that I am very greatful!!
