It's bright, but it's a little distracting to me to read. Also, the banner is kind of plain. Good start though.

Loads nice and fast on my modem. I think the colours are overdone a bit - perhaps lose the orange. S;ightly too wide for 800x600. Otherwise, looks fine. Good luck with it.

Try adding a dark gray border to the news titles to separate them from the white more, also I like the orange but maybe change the yellow. I suggest changing what was yellow to the orange, and what was orange to light gray. That might make it easier to see.
