    Design 1

This is a 100% scalable design composed of text and images. The navigation is text-based and fixed size.

    Design 2
This is a 760 pixel fixed width design composed of mainly coloured cells & CSS styles. The navigation is repeated at both top and bottom of the site and the middle cell is of no fixed size. The background image for the main cell is grayscale and text flows over it. As the content for the design is not yet know, the basic page has been filled with 5 paragraphs of Lorem Ipsum to generate content. This design is fully scalable using text size parameters within the browser.

    I say design one.

There is more to it. Better use of design and the layout is better.

The second design really could do with some sort of banner and a little more structure for the design, it is a little standard.

The first one looks nicer however I would put the menu over on the right instead of in the center, this would balance out the page a little more in my opinion.

Both are nice, but the first just has the edge for me.

    Good luck,
    Daniel.

I like design 1 also, though the mouseover green on the links is a bit hard to read. Design 2 isn't bad either, but it doesn't look like a design site, more of a personal or home showcase kind of site.

    Design 1 for me.

Design 1 by a long shot. That's not to say that the scalable layout is better, but the design itself is far superior in my opinion. Nice work ;-)

I would change the roll overs, they are to bright, I would also align the nav to the right.

I'm gonna test that out with a fixed witdth anyway, I think the content stretches too far on it on large resolutions.

I like design one better as well. Making it a fixed width isn't a bad idea, everything does look a little spaced out right now on my large res.

Design 1 edited - is that any better?

Anybody got any tips on how to create the second design any better? Because, although It's just me, I prefer it .

To make the design 2 better, I recommend you to:
1- The background color is too bright. It doesn't let you read in peace. I recommend you something simple, that doesn't distract you but cool at the "whole page look".
2-If it's going to be a design page, you need more eyecandy.
3- that red-salmon text doesn't look well with the other colors.

    I hope I was useful
